The Busche lab is seeking an exceptional individual who will lead an industry co-funded (Eisai) research project focused at uncovering the long-term effects of Alzheimer's disease pathology on hippocampal neuronal circuit and vascular functions in vivo, how such effects relate to learning and memory deficits in mouse models of the disease, and determining whether pathophysiology is reversible. The project will involve recording neuronal activity and vascular dynamics using state-of-the-art miniaturized head-mounted miniscopes and/or fiber photometry in freely behaving mouse models, manipulating circuits with opto- or chemogenetics, and integration of these techniques with behavioral testing .
In addition, the successful candidate will apply cutting-edge single cell and spatially-resolved transcriptomic methods as part of our ongoing collaboration with UK DRI group leader Dr Carlo Sala Frigerio.
The post is available immediately and funded by a UK DRI grant in collaboration with Eisai for three years in the first instance.

The successful candidate will be self-directed with excellent research skills, and capable of working collaboratively within a team of international multidisciplinary researchers, while displaying independent thinking and initiative.
